gastrin-releasing peptide

This gene encodes a member of the bombesin-like family of gastrin-releasing peptides. Its preproprotein, following cleavage of a signal peptide, is further processed to produce either the 27 aa gastrin-releasing peptide or the 10 aa neuromedin C. These smaller peptides regulate numerous functions of the gastrointestinal and central nervous systems, including release of gastrointestinal hormones, smooth muscle cell contraction, and epithelial cell proliferation. These peptides are also likely to play a role in human cancers of the lung, colon, stomach, pancreas, breast, and prostate. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different ...

  • Molecular signatures of mouse fetal and adult prostate stem cells

score: 100100 | Mus musculus Mus musculus | RNA Expression   RNA Expression

Transcriptional profiles of four populations of cells:fetal prostate stem cells, Sca-1Hi, cells enriched in adult prostate stem cells, Sca-1Lo cells that are enriched in transit-amplifying cells, and Sca-1Neg cells with no Sca expression, that represent the most mature population.

  • Diversity of gene expression in adenocarcinoma of the lung

score: 100100 | Homo sapiens Homo sapiens | RNA Expression   RNA Expression

The expression profiles for 67 human lung tumors representing 56 patients were examined. Subdivision of the tumors based on gene expression patterns faithfully recapitulated morphological classification of the tumors into squamous, large cell, small cell, and adenocarcinoma.
